A gouty condition is more likely to occur when there is an excess of uric acid in the system as a result of the metabolism of dietary purines. People with gout appear not to produce enough of the digestive enzyme uricase which renders insoluble uric acid into a soluble compound.

 Since uric acid is a byproduct of certain foods it naturally follows that diet plays an important role in resolving a gouty diathesis. Certain foods are known triggers of gouty attacks, although this may vary with each individual, foods high in purines should be eliminated from the diet.

A very important part of the gout treatment diet should be to drink at least 8 glasses of pure filtered water daily, that is apart from any other liquids you may choose to drink.

Gout treatment diet lists foods high in purines and are therefore to be avoided: Meat gravies,  stocks, organ meats,shellfish, anchovies, sardines, herrings, mussels, mushrooms and asparagus.Alcohol, particularly beer is high in purines, and for that reason must be avoided. Any alcohol taken should be followed by copius amounts of water to avoid dehydration and consequent uric acid build-up. Meat, white flour, sugar, poultry, dried beans,fish, oatmeal, cauliflower spinach and peas are moderately high in purines, and may need to be avoided.

The idea gout treatment diet should contain lots of organic fresh fruit, vegetables,whole grains,  and a very important dietary addition is wheatgrass.

Fruits, vegetables and juices assist the excretion of uric acid, and foods that neutralize uric acid are strawberries, cherries, and celery juice. Many people have found that the addidition of cherry juice to their diet has prevented further gout attacks.

If you are experiencing a gout attack, then all forms of protein should be avoided, the diet should consist only of fresh organic fruit and vegetables for at least a week to help detoxify the system and rid the body of excess uric acid.

Since excess alcohol consumption often contributes to gout, then it's more than likely that the gout sufferer who drinks alcohol may be deficient in pantothenic acid. This vitamin is part of the B complex and is necessary for the conversion of uric acid into urea and ammonia.

This vitamin is unstable to heat, alkali and acid, so if when you are cooking your vegetables you throw in the bicarbonate soda  to keep them green, you destroy pantothenic acid, squeeze on the lemon and more is lost, that's if there was any left. Those people who take baking soda on a daily basis for their gout, while it may keep their gout at bay, in the long run they may be creating future health problems.

Pantothenic Acid is found in baker's yeast, avocado, brains, royal jelly, whole grain cereals, green vegetables, beans, liver, egg yolk, oranges, milk. The 3 food items in red are to be avoided by people with gout.

Since pantothenic acid is part of the B complex group it's far better to get this vitamin from the food you eat rather than a pill, for taking too much of one part of this group can create a deficiency in another B vitamin.This vitamin is the essential part of coenzyme A, which is required for cellular metabolism, the adrenal cortex is also dependent on this vitamin.

Losing excess weight lowers serum uric acid levels, however, fasting, crash diets, restricted weight loss diets may result in increased uric acid levels.If the gout treatment diet is adhered to, there will be no more gout attacks.
